James Baldwin: A Response

SINK is delighted to announce its participation in ‘James Baldwin: A Response’, an important initiative to celebrate the legacy of this incomparable poet of the civil rights movement, as we approach the end of his centennial year. The event is curated by LSE alumni Corine Dhondee in collaboration with Tomorrow’s Warriors and Sink. With thanks to The Unemployed Philosophers Guild, Penguin Classics, and Dela Ruth Hini.

On Wednesday 20 November, we are co-hosting an event at the London School of Economics featuring a range of poets, writers and musicians who cite Baldwin as an inspiration. We invite all others who would like to celebrate Baldwin to join us at the event.

We also invite our wonderful community of writers and creatives to submit their own reflections on James Baldwin if they would like these to be printed and featured at the event. We are pleased to announce that ‘Oscar Wilde meets James Baldwin‘, a poem submitted by the amazing Emma Conally-Barklem will be available to read at the event. Those unable to attend can also read the article on our blog, here.

We hope that you will join us at this important celebration of an iconic creative voice.
